We believe that the concept of environmentally sustainable transport really makes sense. We love traveling, but we are increasingly aware that it has a significant impact on the environment. That is why we've started a project that will relieve it - we give you, our passengers, the possibility to compensate for the carbon footprint of your ride.

Balance is the key
The essence of the carbon offset is that it negates the same amount of greenhouse gas emissions that we release into the atmosphere. These gases are emitted, for example, by factories or various means of transport (as in our case). The offset is created either by promoting renewable energy sources or by financing planting activities.
How to compensate with Leo Express?
Choose the train
Trains are a clear leader in environmental friendliness. While transport in the European Union generates increasing amounts of CO2, rail transport accounts for only 0,5 % of this and has been declining in the long term. On the other hand, the air transport is constantly growing. The greenest trains are the electric ones, where CO2 is generated by the production of consumed electricity, during the operation itself not at all.

Green partnership
The company CI2 is a professional guarantor and administrator of the Czech climate program SLEDUJEME / SNIŽUJEME CO2 in the Czech Republic. This program provides the companies involved with an independent guarantee, quality label and support for monitoring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The program is implemented under the auspices of the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
Carbon footprint compensation
What is carbon footprint?
The carbon footprint is a measure of the impact of human activity on the environment and in particular on climate change. The carbon footprint is an indirect indicator of the consumption of energy, products and services. It measures the amount of greenhouse gases that correspond to a particular activity or product. The carbon footprint can be determined at different levels - national, urban, individual, or enterprise and product level. In our case it is 1 passenger-kilometer traveled by various means of transport.
How do you count the exact amount of compensation?
Carbon dioxide emissions depend on the means of transport you are traveling with, its average consumption, occupancy and the exact mileage. In the case of electric trains, the calculation also involves the different carbon intensity of electricity consumed in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia.
Can I cancel the compensation amount together with the ticket?
The amount of compensation can no longer be canceled after the purchase of the ticket.
Why is the amount on ticket without tax?
As we donate money on environmental purposes, compensation for the carbon footprint is not subject to tax under § 2 of the Value Added Tax Act.
What do you do with the contributions?
By the contribution to compensation of the carbon footprint of your journey the planting of long-term greenery on suitable land in the Czech Republic is financed, which drain carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The amount of compensation is a donation to the selected offset project.
How can I pay for the compensation of my journey's carbon footprint?
The amount of carbon footprint compensation can be paid by credit card, bank transfer, leo credits or combined payment.
I don't see the option of compensation when selecting a payment method
If you travel on a short distance and the resulting amount of carbon footprint compensation for your trip is less than 1 CZK, you may not see the option to compensate for the carbon footprint of your trip.
The minimum compensation amount is 1 CZK.
