A favorite place for pilgrims
Take a trip to Częstochowa, the fifth most important pilgrimage site in the world! There is a church and a monastery on Jasna mountain and above all the world-famous portrait of the Mother of God with Jesus, which has an amazing healing power.
What to visit in Częstochowa?
The Monastery on the Jasná Mountain is the most important pilgrimage site in Central Europe and the Polish National Shrine. From the top of the hill, visitors can enjoy a beautiful view. Millions of believers are heading here for the holiest Polish icon - Black Madonna.
The holy wander
There is a cross path around the monastery. Pilgrims travel from one stop to the other. Their crowd always kneels and gives a common prayer to the sculptures. The individual stops symbolize Jesus' last journey in Jerusalem.
The queen of Poland
The Polish icon, Black Madonna, has a great strength and tradition for the inhabitants of Poland. In the chapel there are hundreds of decorations that were donated to it by the soldiers as a reward for helping in the struggle; people bring gifts here after miraculous healing. Nuns regularly dress in precious dress.
