Pride of South Bohemia
North from Šumava, surrounded by ponds and magical nature, lies České Budějovice, a town situated at the confluence of Vltava and Malše. Its history dates back to the 13th century, when it was founded by the Czech king Přemysl Otakar II. The famous square, which is the center of the historical part of town, is named after the founder. The dominant feature of the square is the Baroque Town Hall and the Samson Fountain, the largest of its kind in Bohemia.
Close to the town are also tourist attractions such as Vrbenske lakes, nature reserve Tůně u Špačků or Stromovka forest park. You can also take a bicycle trip to the nearby Hluboka Castle or try a boat trip on the Vltava River.
