Free coffee and tea on the train

Leo Express has started testing the coffee corner on the Bratislava–Komárno line

Bratislava, August 1, 2024 - Passengers on regional Leo Express trains on the Bratislava - Komárno line can now enjoy coffee or morning tea free of charge. The trial is running on one train, and if the coffee corner proves successful, it will gradually be extended to all trains. Members of the Smile Club loyalty program can also enjoy free coffee and tea at the Leo Express ticket office in Bratislava.

"In the Danube region, we have enabled people to experience a new level of travel. In addition to low-floor trains with air conditioning and Wi-Fi, they can now enjoy free coffee and tea. We believe that the coffee corner will prove to be a success and we will eventually introduce it on all Leo Express trains on the Bratislava–Komárno line," says Petr Vrabec, catering specialist at Leo Express.

Two large thermos flasks are now available on one of the Leo Express trains. One with ready-to-drink coffee and the other with hot water for pouring tea, as well as accessories such as napkins, sugar or stirrers. Leo Express customers can use them free of charge. Coffee and hot water for tea are replenished throughout the day by staff at the terminal stations.

Coffee and tea are also available at the Leo Express ticket office at Bratislava Main Station, where Smile Club members can use them free of charge.

Leo Express is a private transport operator that has been providing rail and bus passenger services in Central Europe since 2012. In the Czech Republic, it primarily operates on the commercial route Prague – Olomouc – Ostrava, with selected train services continuing to Prešov in Slovakia or Kraków in Poland. The network is complemented by bus connections to Ukraine, which link with train services. Since December 2019, Leo Express has also operated regional trains in the Pardubice region in the Czech Republic, and in December 2023, the company took over regional rail services on the busiest Slovak line, Bratislava – Komárno. The company already has experience in the German market, where it operated train services between Berlin and Stuttgart from 2017 to 2020. For 2026, new connections are planned from Prague via Olomouc to Bratislava, from Kraków to Warsaw, as well as from Przemyśl via Kraków and Prague to Frankfurt and Frankfurt Airport. Together with its main shareholder, the Spanish state railways Renfe, it plans strong growth in Europe in the coming years, both in commercial routes and in public service obligations.
