Leo Express increases frequency of connections between Prague and Krakow, more trains and buses to be added
Prague, May 18, 2023 - Leo Express has increased the number of train connections to and from Poland to a total of three per week. The new service will depart on Thursdays, in addition to Fridays and Sundays, and return on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. From June 1, the trains will be complemented by bus services in both directions on all other days. The air-conditioned buses, equipped with Wi-Fi, will connect with the current train connections between Prague and Ostrava and back. The price of a bus ticket on the route Ostrava– Katowice – Krakow starts at 4.1 euros.
"Krakow, like Prague, is a UNESCO city with a similarly ancient university and a rich multicultural history. At the same time, it is a beautiful city to explore, for example, by bike during a long weekend. Katowice is a modern city, full of exhibitions and cultural events, with a great nightlife. We see a growing interest from travelers in these destinations. That is why Leo Express has decided to increase the number of train and bus connections to Katowice and Krakow. We will offer passengers free coffee, tea or water on the bus connections," says Emil Sedlařík, spokesman for Leo Express.
Due to growing demand, Leo Express has increased the number of train connections on weekdays. The new train will also run on Thursdays. It will complement the trains departing from Prague on Fridays and Sundays at 15:00 and arriving in Krakow at 21:47. In the opposite direction, trains depart from Krakow on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays at 6:05 and arrive in Prague at 12:31.
These connections are ideal for visiting the European Games, which will be held in Poland at the end of June and beginning of July.
Bus services to complement train connections
From June 1, train connections to Poland will be complemented by a new bus service. Leo Express connections will now run daily to Poland. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, buses will depart from Ostrava-Svinov to Krakow at 18:35. They return on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 6:05.
The buses connect with trains to and from Prague, providing smooth transportation between the Czech and Polish cities. The air-conditioned bus is equipped with Wi-Fi and has 45 seats in Economy class. Customers are provided with free coffee, tea, water and newspaper.

Leo Express is a private transport operator that has been providing rail and bus passenger services in Central Europe since 2012. In the Czech Republic, it primarily operates on the commercial route Prague – Olomouc – Ostrava, with selected train services continuing to Prešov in Slovakia or Kraków in Poland. The network is complemented by bus connections to Ukraine, which link with train services. Since December 2019, Leo Express has also operated regional trains in the Pardubice region in the Czech Republic, and in December 2023, the company took over regional rail services on the busiest Slovak line, Bratislava – Komárno. The company already has experience in the German market, where it operated train services between Berlin and Stuttgart from 2017 to 2020. For 2026, new connections are planned from Prague via Olomouc to Bratislava, from Kraków to Warsaw, as well as from Przemyśl via Kraków and Prague to Frankfurt and Frankfurt Airport. Together with its main shareholder, the Spanish state railways Renfe, it plans strong growth in Europe in the coming years, both in commercial routes and in public service obligations.
