Leo Express Introduces New Visual Identity for Talgo

Trainsets as Part of Major International Expansion in 2026

Prague, 10 February 2026

Leo Express, the international rail operator, today unveils the new visual identity of its long-distance Talgo trainsets. Their entry into service and deployment on routes in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the first half of this year will mark a key step in the development of Leo Express’s Central European long-distance network.

"The introduction of the Talgo trainsets represents a new chapter in Leo Express’s development. It is not just about a new design, but about expanding our services, network and brand ambitions. We will offer new connections that other operators do not," says Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express.

The thirteen-carriage Talgo trainsets are modern loco-hauled trainsets with a capacity of 350 passengers, thanks to the strategic collaboration between Leo Express and Renfe. The trains provide a unique combination of low-floor design and barrier-free access. Their tilting system and advanced bogie technology ensure smooth and comfortable rides even on curved tracks. The trainsets can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h, and Leo Express will operate them using state-of-the-art multi-system locomotives.

New Visual Identity: White Coating and Strong Leo Express Branding

The new design of the Talgo trains further develops the Leo Express brand identity. Newly, it features a predominantly white exterior, bold orange accents, and technologically inspired graphic elements that highlight the operator’s dynamism, speed, and international character.

The livery is based on a clear structure for each carriage, prominent display of the Leo Express brand, and visual motifs referencing the connection of European regions and modern mobility. The Leo Express logo and website address are also uniquely placed on the roof of the trains.

Preparations for the train interiors are also underway. Passengers can expect maximum comfort with generously spacious seating in both Business and Economy classes.

A New Chapter for Leo Express: Expansion in the First Half of 2026

The introduction of the new Talgo train visual identity and their planned deployment from the end of April 2026 is part of preparations for a major service expansion of Leo Express. The first half of 2026 marks a new chapter for Leo Express – a further step toward consolidating as a significant Central European rail operator with an international network spanning four countries in the region.

In the coming months, Leo Express will launch:

  • New services in Poland: Launch of the domestic service on the Kraków – Warsaw route from March 1, 2026, including international connections Prague – Kraków – Warsaw.
  • New Connection between Czech Republic and Bratislava, Slovakia: Launch of new international services Prague – Pardubice – Olomouc – Otrokovice – Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště – Bratislava from April 30, 2026, operated with Talgo trainsets. This includes the return of direct Leo Express services from the Moravian Slovakia and Zlín regions to Prague.
  • New International Route to Germany: Entry to the German market with the long-distance international route Frankfurt am Main – Leipzig – Dresden – Prague – Ostrava – Kraków – Przemyśl from June 25, 2026.
  • Deployment of Talgo Trains on the Prague – Ostrava – Žilina – Prešov route from April 30, 2026.
  • Launch of Bus Service Kraków – Lviv connecting to Leo Express trains from March 1, 2026.

Tickets for all new services are already on sale at the most favorable prices via www.leoexpress.com, the Leo Express app, ticket offices, and partner selling points.

Leo Express will become the first Czech train operator to run long-distance international rail services in Germany at its own risk. Simultaneously, it enters the domestic market in Poland, where it has operated international connections on the Prague – Kraków route since 2018. With the introduction of new routes and deployment of Talgo trainsets, Leo Express expects passenger numbers to increase by at least 1.5 million in 2026, reaching a total of over 6 million.

Leo Express is a private transport operator that has been providing rail and bus passenger services in Central Europe since 2012. In the Czech Republic, it primarily operates on the commercial route Prague – Olomouc – Ostrava, with selected train services continuing to Prešov in Slovakia or Kraków in Poland. The network is complemented by bus connections to Ukraine, which link with train services. Since December 2019, Leo Express has also operated regional trains in the Pardubice region in the Czech Republic, and in December 2023, the company took over regional rail services on the busiest Slovak line, Bratislava – Komárno. The company already has experience in the German market, where it operated train services between Berlin and Stuttgart from 2017 to 2020. For 2026, new connections are planned from Prague via Olomouc to Bratislava, from Kraków to Warsaw, as well as from Przemyśl via Kraków and Prague to Frankfurt and Frankfurt Airport. Together with its main shareholder, the Spanish state railways Renfe, it plans strong growth in Europe in the coming years, both in commercial routes and in public service obligations.
