Leo Express Joins Nationwide Polish Campaign “Bezpieczny Przejazd”
Supporting Safety at Railway Crossings
Warsaw, 10 March 2026
International transport operator Leo Express today announced its participation in the Polish campaign Bezpieczny Przejazd (Safe Crossing), an initiative dedicated to improving safety at railway crossings across Poland. As part of its corporate social responsibility, Leo Express brings expert know-how to the project, which combats risky behavior near railway tracks and contributes to the protection of human lives.
The Bezpieczny Przejazd campaign is a nationwide social and educational program that has been continuously implemented for nearly 20 years by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., the manager of Poland’s railway infrastructure. The initiative focuses on educating drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, highlighting the risks associated with violating rules at railway crossings. The campaign aims for long-term behavioral change and a reduction in railway crossing accidents through systematic education, field activities, and consistent risk communication.
“Railway safety is not just a matter of technology, but primarily of human behavior and preparedness. That is why we actively participate in initiatives that have a real impact on accident prevention,” says Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express.

Crisis Exercises as the Foundation of Safety Prevention
Participation in the Bezpieczny Przejazd campaign is part of Leo Express’s long-term strategy for railway safety. It builds on practical experience from continuous operations, including an international crisis exercise that Leo Express initiated and organized in 2025 at the Czech-Polish border near the town of Olza. The simulation of a large-scale railway accident tested the collaboration between the carrier, integrated rescue services, and crisis management teams of both countries, confirming the importance of cross-border coordination during emergencies.
“The crisis exercise in Poland clearly showed that preparedness and cooperation are key. The same applies to railway crossings – prevention and rapid response can save lives,” adds Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express.
Within the the Bezpieczny Przejazd project, Leo Express will focus particularly on:
- organizing international exercises,
- raising awareness of safe behavior around railway tracks,
- long-term involvement in projects aimed at accident prevention.
Leo Express is also a long-term partner of leading national road safety organizations, including BESIP in the Czech Republic and BECEP in Slovakia.
