Prague/Bratislava, 8 November 2023 - Leo Express presented its low-floor trains with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and barrier-free toilets and the services offered for the Bratislava-Komárno line to hundreds of interested members of the public. At the event at Bratislava Central Station, which was also attended by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic Denisa Žiláková, people were able to see the exterior and interior of the new units, including the driver's cab. At the same time, visitors to the event could enter a competition for valuable prizes and enjoy hot drinks to warm up, which Leo Express offered directly in the train unit. Leo Express will start operating on the Bratislava-Dunajská Streda-Vel'ký Meder-Komárno line already on 10 December 2023. It has increased the number of connections and capacity and maintained the fare between Bratislava and Komárno. It is introducing a new offer of a convenient DanubePass time ticket for 1€ per day for unlimited travel on the entire route, which is already available at www.leoexpress.sk.

We are pleased that on important line Komárno – Dunajská Streda – Bratislava, there will be an increase in both capacity and total volume of train connections. Rail transportation is even more ecological, the more people choose this mode of transport and provide relief to road transportation and our cities.

Josef Ráž jr., Minister of Transport of the Slovak Republic

Hundreds of people attended the presentation of the trains, where their interiors were unveiled for the first time. In addition to representatives of the professional and general public, the event was attended by Denisa Žiláková, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic.

"We have set a high standard. Now we have to make sure that we maintain a consistent quality in order to increase the attractiveness of rail travel in this region, which in turn will lead to greater interest in travel on the entire network in Slovakia," said Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express.

The event also included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the symbolic opening of the Bratislava-Komárno line for Leo Express trains. The BECEP (Traffic Safety) organization was also a partner of the event, informing the visitors about travel safety, which is crucial for Leo Express.

Visitors were able to see the train and the driver's cabin and experience the comfort offered on board the train, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, wheelchair-accessible toilets and, most importantly, comfortable boarding and alighting of the low-floor train.

On the day the train and services were introduced, passengers who signed up for the Leo Express Smile Club loyalty program received 50 leo credits, the equivalent of two euros. These can then be used to purchase tickets.

At the event, they could enter a competition to win a one-year limited edition of the DanubePass time ticket, which Leo Express is offering to mark the launch of ticket sales. The company is offering 365 days of travel for 365 euros and a special package for loyal customers. The annual commuter ticket allows travel for one euro per day. Visitors to the event were also able to spin the wheel of fortune and win valuable prizes or purchase merchandise at a 25% discount. Afterwards, they could relax in the chill zone with a DJ and refreshments in the form of hot drinks and gingerbread.

Classic and time tickets are already available

Leo Express will operate on the Bratislava-Dunajská Streda-Vel'ký Meder-Komárno line with the start of the new timetable on December 10, 2023. Leo Express took over the line from ZSSK and ÖBB. The company has already started selling tickets and has maintained the prices that customers are used to on the line, for example €5.25 between Bratislava and Komárno. Twenty-one units will be used, each with a capacity of almost 240 passengers, including 140 seats. Leo Express will provide almost 100 connections a day. At the same time, there will be a densification of connections and an increase in capacity during peak hours between Dunajská Streda, Kvetoslavov and Bratislava, where trains will run at intervals of up to 20 minutes during peak hours.

On the Bratislava - Komárno line, Leo Express now offers time tickets, which are the optimal option for regular commuters. They are ideal for those who travel several times a week for work, school or leisure.

Time tickets are available for 7, 30 and 90 days and there is also a limited edition ticket DanubePass, which allows to travel all year round for one euro per day. The time tickets are issued for a specific route and period and allow the holder to make unlimited train journeys on the purchased route, in any direction or section, for the entire validity period of the ticket. The tickets are intended exclusively for members of the Smile Club loyalty program and also entitle their holders to use the Leo Express Lounge at the Bratislava Main Railway Station.
