Inmaculada Gutiérrez Carrizo is the New Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Leo Express Global a.s.

Prague, 16th of July 2024 - Leo Express Global a.s. has elected Inmaculada Gutiérrez Carrizo as the new Chairwoman of the Board of Directors. She replaces Manel Villalante I Llauradó, who is retiring from his functions at Renfe Group. 

Ms. Gutierrez is the General Director of Renfe Proyectos Internacionales company at Renfe Group, the national passenger railway company of Spain, which is a strategic partner of Leo Express Group. Ms. Gutiérrez has been elected as the new Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the company Leo Express Global a.s.  

Ms. Gutiérrez has more than 30 years of experience as an Economist both in the public and consulting private sectors. She has held various management positions in the Public Administration in areas related to economic regulation, competition, and market liberalization. A significant part of her career has been dedicated to antitrust. 

Since Renfe entered Leo Express through a capital increase in December 2021, the project within Renfe Group has been managed under her international directorate. Leo Express, based on audited results, achieved consolidated revenues of CZK 603 mil (EUR 24,4 mil) for 2023 with over 1,7 mil customers. The results of the company have significantly improved since then and the company expects to almost double revenues in 2024.

With her international track record and experience, she will greatly contribute to Leo Express in its domestic and international markets. We thank Mr. Villalante i Llauradó for his leadership over the last more than two years”. The other six members of the Board of Directors are Teresa Torres, Ismael Gutiérrez, Leos Novotny jr., Heinz Grossmann, Ibon Garcia and Martin Bala. Leo Express currently operates Open Access and PSO services in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland and Ukraine. Leo Express expects to reach 3,5 mil customers and approximately 5 million train kilometres in 2024.

Leo Express is a private transport operator that has been providing rail and bus passenger services in Central Europe since 2012. In the Czech Republic, it primarily operates on the commercial route Prague – Olomouc – Ostrava, with selected train services continuing to Prešov in Slovakia or Kraków in Poland. The network is complemented by bus connections to Ukraine, which link with train services. Since December 2019, Leo Express has also operated regional trains in the Pardubice region in the Czech Republic, and in December 2023, the company took over regional rail services on the busiest Slovak line, Bratislava – Komárno. The company already has experience in the German market, where it operated train services between Berlin and Stuttgart from 2017 to 2020. For 2026, new connections are planned from Prague via Olomouc to Bratislava, from Kraków to Warsaw, as well as from Przemyśl via Kraków and Prague to Frankfurt and Frankfurt Airport. Together with its main shareholder, the Spanish state railways Renfe, it plans strong growth in Europe in the coming years, both in commercial routes and in public service obligations.
