Dunajská Streda

The spa town of Dunajská Streda is situated in the central part of the so-called Rye Island, which is part of the Danube Lowland. Visitors come here mainly to relax in the thermal baths, but there are also other tourist attractions. Highlights include the early Baroque palace Yellow Church with its regional museum and the Vermes Villa, which houses a gallery of contemporary Hungarian art.

Thermal Park

Dunajská Streda is a frequent destination for visitors looking for relaxation and rest in the local Thermalpark. It is one of the most popular and most visited recreational centres in southern Slovakia with four indoor and six outdoor pools. Thermal water with a temperature of up to 39 °C is especially beneficial for the musculoskeletal system.

Malkia Park

If you go a little bit beyond Dunajská Streda, you will come across Malkia Park. It is a private zoo that provides a home for felines that for various reasons could no longer be cared for by their original owner. The animals come from circuses, private owners or zoos. Lovers of large beasts can see tigers, lions, leopards, pumas, wolves and bears here.

Rye Island Museum

Visitors who are interested in history often head to the reconstructed premises of the Rye Island Museum, housed in the classical building of the Yellow Church. Within the permanent exhibitions you can see archaeological and palaeontological discoveries from the area and learn more about the history or ethnography of the Rye Island region.
