The city on the railway

The city lies on the former Northern Railway of Emperor Ferdinand, which was to connect Vienna with the Polish Bochnia. In addition to the railways, the beet processing industry, a typical local raw material, developed in the 19th century. Later on, at the instigation of František Skopalík, two sugar factories were founded, at whose honor there is a museum today.
