Oswiecim

The city is notoriously famous for its concentration and extermination camp, which was set up by the German army on its outskirts during the Second World War. In the past, more than a million people, mostly Jews, died here. Today, you will find a museum and memorial to the victims, the camp complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has become a pilgrimage site visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year.
