Interest in eco-travel is growing. Leo Express will transport bicycles free of charge until the end of October

Prague, August 1, 2023 - In the whole of last year 3600 bicycles were transported, in the first half of this year already 2500 bicycles. The interest in transporting them on Leo Express trains is growing. That is why the company has introduced free transport of bicycles on all trains until the end of October. The offer applies to all types of tickets and fares, regardless of the duration of the trip. The company's aim is not only to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly transport, but also to make it easier for passengers to combine different modes of environmentally friendly transport and reduce their carbon footprint.

"We see a growing interest in eco-travel. In the summer months, it is often a combination of bike and train. To make it even easier for passengers to travel with their bike, we have decided to transport bikes free of charge until the end of October," says Emil Sedlařík, spokesman for Leo Express.

All Leo Express trains are low-floor, so even the little ones can board with their bikes. The reservation system automatically seats passengers near their bikes so they can see them all the way. A train on long-distance routes offers four bike racks, while regional trains in Orlice can accommodate up to ten bikes. The offer is only valid for online purchases via the website, mobile app, Leo Express ticket offices in Prague, Ostrava and Olomouc and commission agents.

New experiences by train and bike

By combining train and bike travel, customers can discover new cycling regions and make their vacations more enjoyable. "They can take the Leo Express train to Ostrava and from there to the Beskydy Mountains. Or they can explore the bike trails under the Tatra Mountains or enjoy an adrenaline rush in the bike parks in the Orlicko region," adds Sedlařík.

Kombinace vlaku a kola navíc cestujícím umožní využít ekologickou dopravu a přispět tak ke snižování emisí a k ochraně životního prostředí.

In addition, the combination of train and bicycle allows passengers to use environmentally friendly means of transportation, helping to reduce emissions and protect the environment. They can also offset their carbon footprint directly on board the Leo Express by selecting the CO2 offset option when purchasing their ticket. In this way, they can contribute to the planting of trees. The financial contribution depends on the distance travelled on board Leo Express trains. Leo Express has already planted 115 trees at a cost of 9200 € and, together with its customers, has already offset more than 640 tons of CO2.
