Ticket for standing

For journeys where you don't mind standing on shorter routes

Economy GO is an ideal choice for journeys where a guaranteed seat is not required. For customers who prefer a lower price, we offer a flexible option to travel standing. This option is available on all our long-distance services and is particularly suitable for shorter routes.

it is possible to purchase a standing ticket for the entire journey. If the connection is sold out, a combination of standing+sitting / sitting+standing is also available. This means that the system assigns you a seat for part of your journey and a standing place for part of it.
travel is only possible on the Adult and Student 18-25 fares
a total of four people can travel on each route at any one time
Economy GO class is only available on long-distance LEx connections and standing time must not exceed 2h 15min
cancellation conditions and loyalty programme are the same as for Economy Class
for safety reasons, refreshments cannot be offered on the section of the journey for which the passenger has a standing ticket

What to do after boarding the train?

For the part of your journey where you do not have a seat assignment (standing ticket), please see the on-board staff who will determine a suitable and safe place for you to travel.
If possible, you will be seated in folding seats in the 2 or 4 carriage
For the part of the journey for which you have a seat ticket (assigned seat number), please take your seat.

Will I see when I shop when I stand and when I sit?

Yes. When you buy a ticket, you will be shown which sections of the journey have free seating and where you will be standing. This will help you plan your journey better.

Where exactly am I going to stand?

Once you have boarded or completed the part of the route where a seat has been reserved for you, the steward will direct you to the designated standing area in carriage 4.
